Notes from Episode #051: Abundance vs Scarcity Mindset

  • Fun fact: Rachel likes the musical group Hansen!

  • Scarcity is the idea that there’s not enough, there may not be a seat at the table for us. In relation of food blogging, you might be thinking or told you shouldn’t charge what you want to charge for your services and time. It’s also accepting when people tell you that you aren’t worth as much as they think.

  • An abundant mindset – what is meant for you won’t pass you by. All of the choices you are making will align you with what’s meant for your life.

  • We have shifted into a fear based society and not actively filtering content out, it’ll all be fear based information coming into your life until you do.

  • Be careful not to create a self-fulfilling prophecy by speaking negative thoughts aloud.

  • Small choices make change and keep you looking ahead.

  • We’re conditioned from a young age about our thoughts. We have to be careful not to take on someone else’s negativity.

  • Tips to help:

    • Unfollow people on social media.

    • Be conscious about what you’re saying even if you have to stop in the moment and create new positive words.

    • Leave Facebook Groups and people that you hang around that don’t lift you up.

  • We already are abundant. We just need to clear the space to allow it to come through.

  • Say no to fear to create space for the yeses.

  • Take a small step back and review your life. Decide if you’re not creating space for Brands to reach out to you. Decide, is my UX set up in a helpful way for my audience? Am I presenting a whole package that honors my whole value?

  • It’s not 1 step you’re missing when you’re stuck in a scarcity mindset. It’s a bunch of small choices in a day.

  • Decide what are your top 3 things you need to get done on your to do list. If you get those three done, its a successful day. Then from that point on, you can choose how you’re spending the rest of the time. You might do a beach trip or swim with your kids, and then maybe you do a few more things on your list.

  • Just create space. This opens up good feeling, the money, the happiness that fills in your day.

  • When you clear space, then just be. Have boundaries with what you are investing your time into. If you invest into things that light you up, then more things that light you up with keep coming.

  • Constantly audit yourself. Take a courageous step forward to improve things.

  • Caution: State things in a way that are creating a window or a door for you to respond.

  • If you think, “there’s not enough traffic for me to have a successful business” and your stomach drops, then find a new way to state make that statement. You might be lying to yourself and your body doesn’t believe you. Instead, frame the statement “People who like my content can easily find my blog.”

  • Just saying a statement 10x a day isn’t going to change anything. You can look at the affirmation for days, weeks, years and nothing changes. But if you find ways to look for change and doors and windows, you will be able to find a path for yourself.

  • How to transmute negativity with love: All you do is respond with love.

    • Negative statement: “I never have enough money”

    • Positivity: “I love how you continue to create opportunities for money to find you in your life. It’s a beautiful thing.”
