EBT700 – 5 Affirmations to Get You Through Any Tough Week

Intro  00:01

Hey food bloggers. Thank you so much for joining me in this mindset and self-care focused episode here on Eat Blog Talk. One of the reasons I started a blog talk was to hold a space to talk about the importance of mindset and self-care. Being an entrepreneur can be a lot. If we are not taking care of ourselves, then getting actionable information about SEO Pinterest or whatever else is all moot. I will meet you back here every Wednesday to discuss various mindset and self-care topics. So you have the energy and space to tackle the rest.

[00:00:37]

Food Bloggers hey, how are you doing this week? I hope you’re having a wonderful week. Welcome to this mindset and self care focused episode of Eat Blog Talk.

[00:00:46]

I have to tell you before we get into the episode that this is technically episode number 700 of the Eat Blog Talk Podcast. However, we are going to actually celebrate episode 700 in the next episode that publishes tomorrow. Definitely tune in for that because it’s super fun with some surprises and fun things thrown in.

[00:01:13]

So this is episode 700 kind of on that note, we are going to talk in today’s episode about affirmations. More specifically, five affirmations that are going to carry you through any tough week. We all have those weeks. The kind where your to do list feels like an insurmountable, impossible heap of garbage that’s about to swallow you whole.

[00:01:42]

Your ideas might not be flowing, your energy might feel drained, or maybe you’re just emotionally or physically exhausted. Or all of the above. Things could be happening on the on any given week too. When you are in one of these ruts, affirmations can truly anchor you. Just repeating a few simple words to yourself can reset your thoughts.

[00:02:07]

They can ground you in truth, and they can set you on a totally new trajectory. So let’s talk through five affirmations that are going to hopefully help you. These affirmations have helped me on some of my hardest weeks recently, and I really hope they serve you as well.

[00:03:16]  Megan Porta

Number one is Relax. Trust. Let go. Surrender. These four words have gotten me through the very intense week that I am experiencing right now. It is currently Friday and it has been a doozy of a week. My business coach mentioned this string of words to me recently. I think it was maybe obvious that I needed to carry them in my back pocket for a while.

[00:03:45]

Flavor Media Summit is next week, so you can imagine the details swimming around in my head about that right now. Somehow, on top of all that work, I thought it would be a good idea to give a Toastmasters speech this Tuesday and say yes to to performing in an improv show for my first time.

[00:04:07]

Plus, just other work is piling on right now with my big event coming up, as well as some family stuff that’s been happening and trying to squeeze in time for me. I got to a point a few days ago where I had the thought I need to change something. I cannot go on like this for a few more weeks.

[00:04:30]

I will literally implode. So I pulled this affirmation out of my arsenal and I’ve been using it to remind myself that I am in charge of these four things. Relaxing no matter what is going on around me, trusting that everything is on the right track, letting go of things I cannot control, and surrendering to the moment I am in now when things feel tight for you.

[00:05:05]

So it might be your schedule, your chest, your thoughts, whatever it is, pause and say this affirmation to yourself. Relax. Trust. Let go. Surrender. It helps to soften. It’s a reminder that you do not need to carry everything alone. When you say this slowly and breathe through each word, you are giving your nervous system permission to settle down.

[00:05:38]

You are releasing control. You are trusting that things are going as they should be. And sometimes this is exactly what you need to move forward. Number two, I trust myself. This affirmation impacts me hugely. It’s so simple, but I love it. Most of the time when I find myself getting worked up about something relating to work.

[00:06:06]

Specifically, it involves me not trusting myself. I can get so worked up and anxious about approaching deadlines or things on my to do list that are there every week and I just stop myself and say dude, you do this task every single week. You know you’re going to get it done. Stop micromanaging yourself.

[00:06:35]

When I am able to call myself out on this garbage, it feels so enlightening. If a business partner or say, my husband or anyone else started questioning me about the things I know I’m going to get done, I’d be absolutely furious. So why do I allow myself to do this to myself? It’s not acceptable.

[00:06:59]

Deep down, I trust myself to know what I need. I trust myself to make the right decisions for me. I trust myself to get the things done that I know I need to get done. I trust that if I make a mistake, I will learn, adjust and grow. So this affirmation allows me and you to reclaim our power.

[00:07:23]

It is such a great reminder that we have gotten through hard things before. We have knocked out our to do lists previously, probably many times. We have figured things out in the past. We have pivoted, we have rebounded. We have grown in ways that we probably couldn’t have predicted. We are capable and intuitive, probably way more than we give ourselves credit for.

[00:07:53]

Even if you don’t have all of the answers right now, in this moment, trust that you are on the path toward them. Your inner wisdom is always there. Sometimes it just needs a little space to speak. So repeat this affirmation as often as you need. It’s so simple, and especially when you feel that doubt creeping in.

[00:08:16]

I trust myself. Because really, you can and you should trust yourself. Number three I choose peace. This one is simple as well, but so incredibly powerful. Sometimes when it feels like chaos is just swirling around me and ready to eat me up, all I have to do is simply remind myself that I can make a choice.

[00:08:49]

I can choose peace. This can literally change everything in a second. If you are in the middle of a chaotic week when everything feels like it’s urgent or overwhelming or frustrating, you can just pause and say, I choose peace. Peace is a choice. It is not something that magically knocks on your door once your to do list is knocked off or once life feels easier because the chaos probably is not going to just magically disappear.

[00:09:26]

Peace comes when you show up within the imperfection of the moment. It’s a quiet exhale when your mind wants to spiral out of control. It’s turning off or ignoring notifications, closing your laptop, going for a walk. Even when your inbox is calling your name, it is responding with grace instead of urgency. This affirmation can recenter you, it can reshift your energy entirely, and it can remind you that while you may not always be in control of what is happening around you, you always get to decide what happens within you.

[00:10:08]

When things feel fast or loud or crazy or uncertain or chaotic, you can come back to this truth. I choose peace. By choosing it, you create more of it. So watch how things shift. After declaring this number four, I give myself permission to pause. This affirmation is for those of us who are always on, always moving, always doing, always thinking, always working.

[00:10:38]

Or at least always thinking about working, always planning the next step, even when we’re tired. If that is you, I know it’s me a lot of the time, try saying this simple affirmation. I give myself permission to pause. We are not machines. We are not meant to run at full speed all the time.

[00:11:01]

And pushing through the hard moments without a break is not being strong. That is burnout waiting to happen. Pausing is not weakness. It is wisdom. It is giving your mind a moment to catch up. It is allowing your nervous system to do a reset. It is creating space for creativity, clarity and peace.

[00:11:26]

When your body is tired, rest. When your brain is foggy, stop trying to push through. A short pause, whether it’s a nap, a walk, a journaling session, or a few deep breaths, can shift everything. So today and every day, remind yourself, I give myself permission to pause. Even the most powerful engines need to refuel.

[00:11:55]

Number five. Everything is happening in perfect timing. This affirmation is for all of you who are constantly asking, why isn’t it happening yet? Where’s my traffic? Where is my acceptance into an ad network? Where’s my money? Where’s my happiness? Where’s my fill in the blank? When progress feels slow, when the opportunity hasn’t come through yet, when it seems like everyone else is passing you by and doing bigger and better things, breathe and repeat.

[00:12:29]

Everything is happening in perfect timing. And I’m not talking about your rushed timing, not someone else’s timing, but the timing that is meant for you. The kind that unfolds with precision that you may not even understand yet. This is a call to surrender, to trust that what is meant for you will not pass you by.

[00:12:54]

And that the delays might be preparing you for something even bigger and better, something that is more aligned and more sustainable. More you. There have been so many moments in my life, in business, when I thought I was ready, when I wanted things to happen faster right now. But in hindsight, the timing was absolutely perfect.

[00:13:19]

I just couldn’t see it yet. So if you are in the waiting or the in between or the what now stage, Let this affirmation bring you comfort. Everything is happening in perfect timing. You are not behind. You are right on schedule. That is all I’ve got for you for this episode. Let’s quickly recap the five affirmations that can help carry you through even the toughest of weeks.

[00:13:50]

1. Relax. Trust. Let go. Surrender 2. I trust myself. 3. I choose peace. 4. I give myself permission to pause and 5. everything is happening in perfect timing. These are all really simple phrases affirmations, but do not let their simplicity fool you. When you speak them with intention. They have so much power to calm your entire nervous system, shift your mindset and bring you back to a centered place even in the midst of total chaos.

[00:14:26]

So I’m leaving you with this encouragement. Write these down, put them on sticky notes, put them in your planner, put them on your bathroom mirror, on your wall, on your whiteboard, wherever you need to put them. You could even put them on your phone as reminders or your calendar if you need to.

[00:14:42]

Just put them somewhere where can see them every day, especially for the days when you need them the most because you will have hard weeks. We all do. But with a few intentional words you can really meet those weeks with more peace, trust and clarity. You’ve got this. I hope this episode inspires you and thank you so much for being here. I will see you next week.
